Why the new Blog?

Hey Buffalo Cov!

I asked Dana to set me up with a web presence here on the church site so that I will have a forum to communicate with the congregation on a regular basis, and share with you the things which God is placing on my heart as your Executive Pastor.

The goal here is to keep the communication lines open so that you will have the opportunity to know the why and how of where your church is going, and what the leadership is thinking and feeling, and how they feel God is leading us as a church together.  To the best of my ability, I want to keep the membership of Buffalo Covenant Church aware of what's going on.  With all the communication tools at our disposal today, it seems like the number one challenge for many churches is to keep the information flowing. Many times on our Sunday morning communications, we do not have time as a congregation to get into the philosophy of ministry issues; nor do we have time to talk about the long-range plans for us as a church. I will try to provide that for you as a church.  What's more, if anything is unclear, you are free to give me a call or send me an email and I will answer any questions you may have.

So here is the agenda for this blog:

  • Biblical philosophy of ministry issues - why we do what we do, based on the Bible
  • Leadership development issues - what steps are we taking to disciple up-and-coming leaders at BCC
  • Pastoral concerns - which impact the congregation at large
  • Long-range planning - what's coming up in the near and distant future (to the best of our knowledge)

Let me know you are reading, and I will try to respond to any questions or concerns or ideas or dreams you may have for us as a church.

Here is a verse which means a lot to me as a pastor of a church facing big decisions for the future:  "Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one for the faith of the gospel." (Philippians 1:27).

Let's follow Jesus together, and serve Him together, and honor Him together.

We'll talk more in the next blog.

In Christ's Service,

Pastor Bill
