Just wanted to update you on what's happening for May 29th and June 5th. Pastor Max will be gone those two weeks, so I will be doing a two-week mini-series on the Bible. We will take a look at two very interesting and important doctrines related to God's Word: Inerrancy & Hermeneutics.  Don't let those words throw you off. Here is what they mean: Inerrancy - the Bible is True;  Hermeneutics - how to interpret and apply the Bible to your life.

So here are the two messages coming up:

May 29th - The POWER of God's Word: Why God's Word can Change Your Life (2 Timothy 3:16)

June 5th - The PRACTICE of God's Word: How God's Word can Change Your Life (2 Timothy 2:15)

Why are we doing this?

Gallup polls tell us that only 31% of Americans believe that the Bible is the inspired and true Word of God. That means that two out of three people would not know where to get wisdom and truth when they need it for the tough issues in life. They don't believe that God has spoken into this world through His Word, the Bible. 

Also, one of the unique features of the Covenant denomination is that it attracts people who are looking for a middle ground between couples who are coming from mixed denominational heritages. And because people are coming from a multitude of different denominations, we don't know what they were taught, if anything, about the Bible. Therefore, we have to keep teaching the simple Gospel truth that the Bible is God's Word.

So on this Sunday, I will be supplying you with some very interesting facts that demonstrate that truth. I will teach you from 2 Timothy 3:16; what it does and does not teach. We will do a little Greek, a little history, and then some historical facts related to the Tower of Babel and Jonah and the Whale. Then we will show you how God's Word can change your life for the better.

Then on June 5th, we move from the facts and truth of God's Word to its application in our lives. By looking at 2 Timothy 2:15 and related verses, we will learn how to understand and apply God's Word better in each of our lives.
